Shafafis do not perform pilgrimage. There is no Hajj, no Umrah, and no Shafafi equivalent.

There is no place on Earth that is closer to God than where you are standing.

Mecca is a city. The Kaaba is a cube-shaped building. Neither has any bearing on your relationship with a cosmic force, and travelling to them accomplishes nothing that could not be accomplished in your own kitchen.

The mainstream rites are, quite openly, pre-Islamic pagan practices that were absorbed rather than abolished: circling a stone structure seven times, running between two hills, throwing pebbles at pillars, kissing a rock. These were the customs of the Arabian peninsula before Islam, and they remain the customs of the Arabian peninsula now, with a monotheistic label attached and an economy built around them.

If others wish to travel thousands of miles to throw rocks at a wall, they are entirely free to do so, and we wish them a safe trip. We simply will not be participating.
