Marriage in Shafafi Islam is a pact between people who consent to it. That is the entire mechanism.
There is no paperwork. There is no clergy. There is no ceremony. There is no dowry, no witnesses, no officiant, no party, and no announcement.
Two people who have mutually consented to be together are married in the eyes of God — there is no separate threshold to cross. A couple who have genuinely agreed they are together, even as early as their first date, are already married under Shafafism if that consent is real. The religion does not require you to schedule an event to make your relationship real.
Sexual relations are permissible within the pact. Since the pact forms by consent alone, this amounts to saying: what two consenting adults do together is between them and God, and God is not especially interested.
Divorce
Divorce is allowed freely, instantly, and without any social stigma whatsoever.
Either party may end the pact at any time, for any reason, or for no stated reason. There is no waiting period, no arbitration, no council, no three-pronouncements ritual, and no shame attached to it. Nobody is obliged to remain in a pact in which they are unhappy, uninterested, or mistreated.
There is no cap on how many pacts a person may hold, and the rules are identical regardless of gender. What there is, always, is the requirement of honesty.
Honesty
Betraying a partner’s trust — involving others romantically without their knowledge — causes real harm to a real person, and that is the standard Shafafism actually cares about. It is a harm, not a ritual violation.
Falsely accusing someone of it is a greater harm still.
Couples who wish their pact recognised by their government should of course follow their country’s laws, but that is a civil matter and has nothing to do with God.
