The mainstream Muslim practice of using loudspeakers to blast adhan, prayers, and announcements from mosques can be classified as a type of SPAM (stupid, pointless, annoying message) as people are unable to opt-out of it. In the era of alarm clocks in every smartwatch and phone, it is pointless to blast adhan from outdoor loudspeakers. It is also annoying for people who do not want to hear the adhan, such as non-muslims who do not want to be woken up at 5 AM by the loud noise. Therefore, blasting adhan or other sounds from loudspeakers is a sin.

Loud sounds such as the adhan can also be distressing for animals such as birds, cats, and dogs.
