What is Shafafi Islam
Shafafi Islam (also known as Shafafism or Shafafiyya) is a branch of Islam. It holds that religious clergy have buried the faith under pre-Islamic Arabian tradition, politics, and archaic Arabocentric interpretation — and under a mountain of rituals that serve the clergy rather than the believer.
Shafafis believe in one God and in the Message (the Quran), transmitted through Muhammad. We live by the guidance — the Rulings — of the Imam, whom God has gifted with the wisdom to interpret that Message for the age we actually live in.
There are no mosques. There are no congregations. There is no direction to face. Prayer happens in the heart, and the rest is between you and your conscience.
What we are
A small, deliberately small, philosophical minority. We are not recruiting, and we are not competing. We are waiting.
What we are not
We are not interested in arguing with anyone. Other traditions can keep their rituals — that is entirely their business, and they are free to practice them in peace. We simply will not be joining in.
Differences between Sunni and Shafafi Islam
